Indian e-commerce company Flipkart has said that it saw double in value and volume of sales this festive month over last year’s festive month. It also claimed to have taken a significant lead over Amazon. Flipkart registered a 4x growth over business as on usual days. It’s customers from tier-II and tier-III cities grew from 60% last year to 65% this festive month.

 

Growth in Smartphones and Electronics

Smartphones stay constant at 60% of the Flipkart’s total sales. These phones continued to be the biggest category in terms of GMV. Large appliances contribution on a normal day increased from less than 10% to 15% during the festive days.

In general, Flipkart enlisted a 5 x development in cell phones and gadgets over the same old thing, which has helped push its GMV and a 10 x development in large appliances.

 

Amazon Pay to be used for Booking Movie Tickets 

Amazon announced that its customers can now use Amazon Pay balance account for booking tickets for movies, plays, events, concerts across BookMyShow platforms. With this, Amazon has planned to push its wallet beyond its marketplace to other online merchants.

Amazon Pay has now integrated with food-delivery companies and has also started online mobile balance recharge.
