Paytm Mall, Paytm’s ecommerce entity, is planning to fortify its hiring efforts since it is building an offline-to-online (O2O) commerce marketplace with the help of trusted local shops across India that can sell their inventory on its platform.
Hiring of various workforce across India
The company plans to hire 3000 members at its various existing workforce across the country in order to expand its reach to the shopkeepers in tire-1 and tire-2 cities. This will also help them to put their catalogue online and thus enable them to discover the products on the platform. The agents which are currently 350 in number will not be on Payton’s payroll.
Trusted merchants will be onboard
Chief operating officer of Paytm Mall, Amit Sinha, said that, “Our team will onboard trusted merchants and will offer end-to-end support. This will help bring a much larger base of merchants who have been traditionally selling offline to become a part of mainstream digital ecommerce”.
Store number is yet to be disclosed
Though Sinha did not mention the number of store that they are targeting to onboard through their agent network, but this new venture is expected to cover the top 50 cities of the country.
Additional revenue streams
This network agent will help the local shops to sell products without involving in management of inventory, logistics and payments and thus it will add additional revenue in the streams.
How new network will help shopkeepers
The agent network will let the Shopkeepers use Paytm Mall QR code solution so that their consumers can scan and browse the products while shopping. Paytm Mall would physically distribute, educate the merchants and onborad to keep the merchants up-to-date with the products and listings on Paytm Mall through their agent network.
