Pinterest platform gets more exciting every day. With their latest ‘Sections’ rolled out recently, this anniversary it is bringing a fresh set of search and discovery options helping users to search pins and businesses to gain a pin presence, fulfilling its objective of becoming an e-commerce hub.

About Lens

Pinterest’s Lens, released earlier this year has increased the visual searches on the platform by almost 60%. But, Pinterest seems to revolutionize the feature more by adding context to your Lens search by including accompanying text cues. The user can search for any text-based query then add it to a relevant photo by tapping the camera icon.

What Pinterest has to say?

“So if you’re looking for new ways to wear your favourite fall staple – say a jean jacket – you can add a photo of your exact jacket to your search to find Autumn outfit ideas that go right with your denim.

About Pincodes

Pincode introduced by Pinterest uses QR codes as they help users to scan in relevant Pincodes and view product listings of a business via Pinterest boards.

How to use Pincode?

“When you come across a Pincode, all you have to do is:

  1. Open the Pinterest app on your iPhone or Android phone
  2. Tap your Pinterest camera (up next to the Search bar).
  3. Point your phone at the Pincode to instantly access Pins, boards and other ideas on Pinterest.

Why Pinterest brought about the feature of Pincode?

Addition of Pincode on the platform seems as the next legit step as their analysis said that 45% of Pinners look for Pinterest while shopping along with 64% of Pinners like to look at the items they have pinned on some offline stores. Pincode checks the usage trends of the user and helps businesses to analyse the effectiveness of their promotion. Previously Pinterest introduced ‘Taste Graph’ to help businesses in improving their ad targeting options.

About ‘Shop the look’

This feature was introduced where the users while browsing through individual items can move further for purchase. But, the next move comes with their partnership with ShopStyle that will get to have thousands of brands under it.

What Pinterest has to say about ShopStyle?

“Starting today you can shop the freshest looks from ShopStyle Collective’s 14 thousand style influencers (like Color Me Courtney, New Darlings, Mint Arrow and Memorandum), then get the look for yourself by clicking the dots that appear on shoppable products within Pins.”

The List doesn’t end here.

Along with all this, Pinterest is also adding a ‘Responsive Visual Search’ option that will allow the users in conducting searches based on image content. They will also add the extension to Firefox so that the users who use the browser will get help in searching for an image on the platform.
