Jeff Bezos, world’s second richest man and founder of Amazon, enlightened on the performance of it’s Indian leg after the first quarter result of the company and said that “Amazon India is the most visited and the fastest growing marketplace in India”.
Amazon will keep investing for India Business
Bezos statement reflects that Amazon will continue to invest more and more to plunge its biggest rival in India Flipkart from the leadership position. It is also revealed that its losses crossed the number of $481 million in international business which is almost the fourfold of previous loss and it is a result of investment in India, with a total International sale of $11 billion in Q1 of 2016 with over $1.5 billion profit.
Amazon experiences growth from prime program
Amazon also reported a 40% growth in the products attached to its prime programme. The prime service which charges Rs 499 for a year promises one day and two day deliveries in major cities. The service was launched in July last year.
Amazon’s India team is moving fast
Bezos also made a statement on India team that, “Our India team is moving fast and delivering for customers and sellers. The team has increased Prime selection by 75% since launching the program nine months ago, increased fulfillment capacity for sellers by 26% already this year, announced 18 Indian Original TV series, and just last week introduced a Fire TV Stick optimized for Indian customers with integrated voice search in English and Hindi”.
Amazon India is most visiting website in India
Additionally he said that, “We’re grateful that customers are responding — Amazon India is the most visited and the fastest growing marketplace in India. It’s still Day 1 for e-commerce in India, and I assure you that we’ll keep investing in technology and infrastructure while working hard to invent on behalf of our customers and small and medium businesses in India”.
$5 Billion is invested in enhancing the business
According to him, he is seeking to enhance the business in India through an investment of $5 billion and will take on its rivals in the space of online retail in the country.
Amazon India App, most downloaded shopping app
The online retail company also affirmed that the Amazon India website is the most visited site on desktop as well as mobile according to a report revealed by SimilarWeb and comScore. Moreover, according to the App Annie which is an app analytic firm, Amazon India app is the most downloaded shopping app in the country.
