Land Rover invested in Lyft
This Monday, Land Rover, the British company which has launched the two iconic car brands declared that it was investing a sum of $25 million into Lyft to fortify the technologies of ride-hailing business. The company consented to supply an armada of its vehicles, which is a part of the agreement.
Who invested the money
InMotion Ventures, a unit of Jaguar Land Rover that has keen interest in autonomous cars and several other technologies, has put money in the venture.
Sebastian Peck, InMotion Managing Director, said that, “The collaboration will provide a “real-world platform helping us develop our connected and autonomous services”.
SPLT association for medical transport
Earlier, InMotion had invested in a Detroit based digital carpool business called SPLT which works with Lyft for providing the non-emergency medical transport.
Partnership with nuTonomy
Earlier, Lyft had announced that it was about to initiate a research partnership with nuTonomy, self-driving startup.
Company’s concerns
Company is interested in expansion of services for the procedure to book and route a self-driving car by the passenger and moreover how they may interact with it.
Lyft functions in various places
LYft operates in 300 cities and it is associated with General Motors for research on autonomous ride-hailing.
