With its live video option under testing in August, Instagram has rolled out its new feature for everyone.
What Instagram has to say?
They commented “Live video helps you share in an authentic way, but sometimes it can be intimidating when you’re on your own. It’s easy to add a guest while you’re broadcasting. Simply tap the new icon on the bottom right and tap “Add” to invite anyone who’s currently watching. Once they join, you’ll see the screen split into two and your friend pop up right below you.”
A new addition
The latest addition to its initial testing is a Stories icon where the user can go live with his friend, which will be depicted by as a collaboration of both their profile images on top of each other.
About the targeted audience
The main targeted audience for this feature are the young people who seem to be the prominent users. The product manager Shilp Sarkar stated “The use case that caught our attention was people just hanging out on live, particularly young people. After school, they jump on a live stream and hang out. That use of live is particularly interesting to us.”
The live streaming video has been popular since its inception with Houseparty that is a group live-streaming app. Seeing this Facebook also came with the same feature naming it as Bonfire.
