After the update in following specific hashtags, they are now adding a new way so that users can add Stories from the mobile web but the option is not open for native posting from the desktop.

 How can you add the Stories?

The camera is at the top left of the mobile web home screen. The user needs to tap on it and take a photo or add one from his library but the drawback is that it cannot be saved like a regular Instagram post. The user will not be able to access regular Stories features.

About Stories

Instagram wants to engage more people on its platform and thus to implement the same they allowed posting or viewing of Stories from browsers. And as reported by them, the users are Stories are increasing particularly India and South Asia with 80% of users residing in the US.

The Changes in Stories

Though at the beginning of the year, Instagram updated their website which for some time allowed users to upload content directly from their PCs via some code manipulations. But, Instagram has shut down any such attempt and even there has been no hint accessing Instagram via desktop.
