India’s leading etailer company, Amazon has announced on Tuesday that it has added an aggregate growth of 225 percent in its account over its sports category in 2016 in comparison to the last fiscal year.

 

Amazon sets gym-to-office wear

According to the survey, Amazon fashion sportswear category including athleisure wear, which bring revolution in gym wear and turn it to a sophisticated “gym to office wear”, has witnessed a growth of almost 150 per cent in 2016.

 

Customers are adopting yoga

Kaveesh Chawla, Director of Category Management at Amazon India, said that, “Customers today are more fitness conscious and are adopting yoga in daily life. We are excited by the growing interest in yoga products across the country and are constantly striving to add new selection to meet all of yoga and fitness product needs under one roof”.

 

Metro cities shows great demand for yoga products

 

Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Delhi show a great demand which is almost 40% for yoga products in both fashion as well as sports categories.

 

Tier 1, 2, and 3 cities are also aligned in the queue

Sixty percent market was covered by other Tier I, II and III cities which had 80% demand for yoga mats.

 

Remote areas also show interest in Yoga products

Yoga mats have also generated interest from remote and far flung areas of Indian cities like Kohima, North Thingdawl and Dimapur.

 

Leading brands in Sports category

Armour, Reebok, Adidas, Puma, Nike, Fila, ASICS, Skechers, New Balance are some of the leading brands in sportswear category.
