Popular ticket company BookMyShow is looking forward to upgrade its audio entertaining platform JukeBox with original content. Jukebox offers free music downloads to its customers through credits earned while booking movie. But it will now add a digital radio service that will allow its users to listen specially-curated original audio shows.
BookMyShow partners to offer curated music playlists
BookMyShow has partnered with Nikhil Chinapa, Rohit Barker and Brian Tellis, among others, to offer curated music playlists. Music labels such as Universal, Sony Music, Warner, T-Series, Zee, Saregama, Times Music and Think Music will provide their content on the platform.
Building ecosystem around talk radio
“We also want to identify and promote new talent and work towards building the complete ecosystem around talk radio. It’s a category that we believe has tremendous potential,” said Aditya Kuber, an associate vice-president at BookMyShow.
While Jukebox is competing with music streaming apps like Saavn, Gaana, and Hungama, its revenue model is different.
Views of Ashish Hemrajani
Ganna.com is a division of Times internet which publishes The Economic Times. Jukebox does not charge subscriptions unlike its rivals. “In terms of revenue, we believe a subscription model does not give scale in India. So for monetization, we are looking at branded content and embeds done in a lucid, frictionless manner for the user,” Ashish Hemrajani, CEO of BookMyShow, told ET.
BookMyShow backed by Stripes Group and Network18 acquired video content platform Nfusion to build tech backbone for Jukebox.
