Instagram Stories are getting expanded with ads that allow the brands to use three ad pieces rather than one. In its recent announcement, Instagram announced that carousel ads are coming to Stories as well.

 

The previous look

As of the previous interface, the businesses were allowed to slip one ad between the photos or videos were played in one short loop. But, now with the arrival of carousel ads businesses can now show three images as well as videos inside the ongoing Stories. This will give businesses more leverage.

 

How will this work?

Like the way users view the Stories, they can tap through the ads and move back and forth. So for the users who are annoyed with the ads, they have just one more swipe to go through before they move on to their Stories. Even the creators can use the drawing tools and stickers that the users are allowed to use. This expanded advertising system will be limited to some businesses like Gap, Coca-Cola, Renault and Paramount.

 

The Growth of Stories

With the expansion of Stories, the company wants to bring new features along with monetization options. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated in his recent announcement “We expect Stories are on track to overtake posts in feeds as the most common way that people share across all social apps”. He also added “That’s because Stories is a better format for sharing multiple quick video clips throughout your day. The growth of Stories will have an impact on how we build products and think about our business, including WhatsApp and Instagram, which are the number one and number two most-used Stories products in the world.”
