Now, this image collecting sites where users get to learn about new ideas will now enjoy an update in its search tools making it easier to access.
The search tool which was previously on the navigation bar will be on the home page saving mobile users an extra tap. Even the image based search tool called Lens is also accessible from Home Page.
New vs. Old
Pinterest analysed that more than 85% searches are made on mobile devices. With the previous version, mobile users had to tap the search icon in the bottom navigation bar to access the features but in the latest update, which is now available in iOS and is also launching soon for the Android users, the search bar is now at the top of the home page, which users get to see when they first open the app.
Lens- the searching tool
Using the built-in camera or an existing image the Lens feature which is still in beta version, will allow users based on an image. The visual searches has now increased by 60% while the text searches by 40%.
A unique searching
Pinterest search is a bit different from the typical web search, since it has a mood board for the users who aren’t quite sure what they are searching for. “This kind of open-minded searching is what makes Pinterest so unique,” the company mentioned in a blog. It also added “You don’t need to know what something’s called, or which brand made it. You can start your search broad, then quickly narrow in on the specific solution that’s right for you.”
Other search modes
Along with Lens, we can also tap the circle at the corner of the pin to see results. The average Pinterest search sums up to 60 Pins, which the platform says is about five times of a traditional search.
