Gridlock Hackathon is a program initiated by Flipkart which aims to address the traffic issues faced by the city. As a part of it, Flipkart has invited all leaders in the field of technology to come up with alternate solutions.
Flipkart sent mail to Amazon
As per a source, Flipkart also invited its competitor Amazon India which is yet to confirm its participation. As per him, mail was sent to Amit Agarwal, CTO at Amazon India.
Several other companies who are also invited
Ravi Garikapati, chief technology officer, is has been sending the mail of invites on behalf of Flipkart also contacted Venture capital firm Accel, CEOs of Microsoft, InfosysBSE -0.01 %, Cisco India, and WiproBSE 0.72 %.
Bangalore is a city of chaotic traffic
The email which was sent to the invitees described the Bangalore as the city of chaotic traffic because of influx of working professionals working at global companies and startup along with students.
Perception is to find innovative implementable solution for traffic congestion
Mail also contains that, “As an innovative, tech company born in Bengaluru, Flipkart wants to help change that perception. At Flipkart, we’re celebrating June as the month of innovation, part of our Big 10 celebrations, and we’re inviting everyone to join hands to find innovative, implementable solutions to help fix some of Bengaluru’s traffic woes. We’re all, in many ways, as much a part of the problem as we must surely be of the solution”.
Winners will get Rs 2 lakh as Flipkart’s voucher
This month, the Gridlock Hackathon propelled has opened its platform to crowdsource innovation answers for understanding and solving the Bengaluru’s traffic congestion. The invitees are required to present their answers before June 21 and the winners will be announced on 1st July by a jury. The winners will get a Flipkart voucher worth Rs 2 lakh.
