Flipkart has launched a private label in men’s fashion and accessories called “Metronaut”. Apart from this the marletplace is also seeking to open private labels in fashion, décor and furniture ahead of the festive sale season.
Men’s fashion is top category
Rishi Vasudev, vice president at Flipkart’s fashion, said that, “Men’s fashion is a top category for us contributing 60% by value of all fashion sales. Women’s fashion is catching up at 40%. There is a strong brand play in the sub-Rs 1,000 category”.
Label includes wide sorts of categories
Currently, label includes denims, shirts, t-shirts, and accessories such as wallets, belts, etc. Additionally it also includes backpacks and footwear, since footwear is the top-selling from the categories.
RetailNet would be the sole retailer for the brand as it has outsourced the manufacturing of the brand.
company will enhance its service
Vasudev said that, “We believe that the brand will have a higher sell through due to lower returns as we have made sure that the sizing is standardised and better quality checks, and hence less discounting to clear stocks. Also the supply chain cost will go down. We will update styles every two months”.
What is divastri
Prior to this, the platform also had launched a women’s private label in the ethnic wear category called divastri.
Earlier, its rival Amazon had also announced about private lebel for men attire. On other hand, Myntra, a part of Flipkart group, has been focusing in fortifying the private label business to achieve the profits by fiscal year of 2018.
