Instagram is now letting users post images to Stories from last week, which was previously limited to 24 hours.

The previous strategy

Previously, Instagram, as well as Snapchat, has decided to keep the content of Stories as fresh as possible by allowing the users to post content to their Story within the same day.

Snapchat’s strategy

Snapchat has introduced ‘Memories’ to include older images in the Stories with a border to signify that it is an old content.

But, then the border was removed around Memories content and replaced with a small note about when the image was captured.

Instagram’s Strategy

Instagram had also added a live-streaming option to their Stories and then came up with a way to store that data.
