Instagram’s all-new latest app update is upsetting the users who are not sold on the new Reels feature yet. The update shows that Instagram is putting so many efforts into Reels. Users who have logged in to Instagram over the past few days would have noticed a change to the user interface. Users now get a Reels button and Shop tab located on the bottom function bar where earlier there used to the Activity tab and Create button.

The Activity tab and the Create button is now located at the top right corner of the screen right next to the direct message button. All these new changes suggest that Instagram is putting shopping and Reels first over the main feed content. Before showing you the reactions of the users, here is what Instagram has changed and why.
Reels And Shopping Over Regular Posts?
Today we’re announcing some big changes to Instagram — a Reels tab and a Shop tab.
The Reels tab makes it easier for you to discover short, fun videos from creators all over the world and people just like you.
The Shop tab gives you a better way to connect with brands and creators and discover products you love.
Instagram states that the company has seen a rise in short video content and huge considerations towards online shopping since the onset of the pandemic. Instagram expresses the introduction of Reels as “kind of a stage, a place where people can share their creativity with the world and have a chance to break out and find an audience.” Instagram in order to let users resonate with Reels is taking the efforts to put the feature front and center.
We don’t take these changes lightly — we haven’t updated Instagram’s home screen in a big way for quite a while. But how people create and enjoy culture has changed, and the biggest risk to Instagram is not that we change too fast, but that we don’t change and become irrelevant.
Reactions By Users To The Instagram App Update
To sum up the reactions by the users can be described in one word “upsetting.” Here are a few of the tweets:
Literally no one asked for the new #instagramupdate. We do not need a section for your 'reels' which are really just tiktoks. Just bring back the old explore page

Instagram update is awful. They’ve absolutely annihilated impressions and the overall algorithms. I don’t care about reels. I have TikTok for that reason. I don’t want to shop via Instagram either. I have safari for that.

Even the popular influencer James Charles, with an audience of tens of millions, went on a rant about the new Instagram update.

Instagram is consistently facing criticism as the company is not fixing stuff that the users claims as broken whereas focused on bringing new changes that no one asked for.
