Instagram as looking to make more emphasis on eCommerce, is now testing new in-stream shopping tools which include shops and extension of shopping tags. Users might have noticed this test on a few accounts.
Some Instagram users now have the capability to add product tags in their post captions which when clicked on will redirect you to a shoppable product page. Instagram has been testing out the option with few groups of accounts in the US that are able to, make use of the Checkout function.
Businesses can already use shopping tags which displays in the post images but this might enable users to double down providing you with another clickable link in the post. It is not available for all yet and it may be available once the Instagram launches shops but as of now, it is fairly limited.
This is something to consider as people are getting used to able to buy products via their feeds.
