Paytm Mall, online market place, has mandated the Goods and Service tax i.e. GST, which will come in to existence on 1st July, compliances for its vendors to sell on its platform.
As of date, 70% of the total active sellers on this Alibaba-backed portal are GST compliant which can be credited to the helpdesk set up by Paytm at zero cost to ensure compliance. Earlier it was revealed that only one-third of the Amazon’s sellers are GST compliant.
There are more than 1.2 lakh merchants on Paytm’s platform
It launched online-to-offline business and recently announced that there are more than 1.2 lakh of merchants associated with its platform previously. It also has hooked-up with ClearTax, online tax-filling platform and provides that ASP (Application Service Provider) interface for merchants.
GST Compliance measures has been applied on platform
Amit Sinha who is the chief operating officer at Paytm Mall said that, “We have implemented GST-compliance measures across our supply chain in advance to ensure quick and efficient delivery of items ordered on Paytm Mall. Our seller platform is also GST-ready and will shift to the new tax structures on Day 1 of the official launch”.
GST compliant merchants have 90 mn products
The company also made a statement that merchants who are GST compliant have 90 million products mapped to to HSN codes to prepare them for the new tax structure. In this context, recently it is also conducted a pre-gst sale on its platform for clearance of the stock before implementation of GST.
