Instagram is now testing out new timer listings under the stories bubbles, which will display for how long every Story has left before it’s erased. This could encourage more users to see them while they last, which therefore could enhance stories consumption. It seems to be a little complicated about how exactly those timers would work. The motive is to get more users to check the stories by displaying the stories that will be gone soon.

Conclusion
It is hard to say whether this is a good or a bad thing. It could be helpful in enhancing stories engagement but it may also pressurize users to check out more stories as they are displayed. It is an interesting experiment anyway and will be interesting to note what the impacts will be.
