It has been a month since Instagram rolled out its Live Guest option to its users. But, that was not all. Instagram is adding another notch on its live guest option by enabling users to submit a request to join a live stream which is currently in development mode.

What did Instagram say about this?

“When watching a friend’s live video, simply tap the “Request” button in the comments section. You’ll see a confirmation that your friend has accepted your request, and you’ll have a moment to prepare. Once you’re live, the screen will split in half so you can hang out live with your friend. You can leave your friend’s live video at any time, making it easy to join for a quick hello or a longer chat.”

More helpful to brands

This kind of interactivity would be more appealing to brands where this new option will provide a new mode to have an interactive question and answer type of conservation. Though being live it has its own level of threats but this level of conversation would help in shaping a community and provide the clients with a more interesting live material.

How does this request work?

During a live-stream session, the user gets to see a new notification coming up telling you the number the number of requests you have received on the ‘two faces’ tab. When the icon is selected, the user will see both requests and current viewers. This feature is available both in iOS and Android phones.
