Indian electronic commerce company Flipkart has now partnered with French sporting goods retailer Decathlon to sell its sports merchandise on its platform. As a part of this tie-up, now Decathlon’s entire selection of sports equipment, fitness products, clothing, footwear, and accessories will be sold on Flipkart.
Getting Access to Branded Products
“Categories like running shoes are available in good brands, but other categories like camping equipment or a football used to come from smaller sellers, but through this partnership, users can have access to branded products from Decathlon along with the products already being sold,” said Rishi Vasudev, head of Flipkart Fashion.
Vasudev further added that sports are an important category for Flipkart, and with this partnership, Flipkart is expecting a growth in sports category by 30-50%.
Flipkart and Amazon looking for Offline Partnership
Flipkart and Amazon India to compete with each other are looking at different kinds of offline partnerships. Amazon India has recently partnered with Shoppers Stop to sell the retail giant’s products on its platform.
