Google has rescheduled its launch of Page Experience algorithm update from May to mid-June 2021. The newly updated timeframe for the Page Experience update now gives website owners at least a month to prepare.

Statement By Google

We’ll begin using page experience as part of our ranking systems beginning in mid-June 2021. However, page experience won’t play its full role as part of those systems until the end of August. You can think of it as if you’re adding a flavoring to a food you’re preparing. Rather than add the flavor all at once into the mix, we’ll be slowly adding it all over this time period.

Google also states that the websites should not expect any huge changes when the update comes out as page experience will be a factor along with many other factors to take into consideration when ranking web pages. A change is also coming to Google News that will extend the use of non-AMP content across news.google.com and mobile apps. Google will take off AMP badges to highlight AMP content.

A whole new Page Experience report is available in the Google Search Console which integrates the Core Web Vitals report with other page experience signals like:

  • Mobile Usability: A URL must not have any mobile usability errors so as to qualify for Good status.
  • Security Issues: A security issue of any type for a website will disqualify all URLs on the website from a Good status.
  • HTTPS Use: A webpage must use HTTPS to be qualified for the Good page experience status.
  • Ad Experience: A website should not make use of any technique that is interrupting or distracting or will not qualify for a good user experience. All the pages will be taken as bad page experience if a website is flagged as having a bad ad experience.

The Page Experience report will consider the percentage of URLs on a site that gives out good experience on the basis of an evaluation of the above factors. The Search Performance report in the Search Console has the ability to filter pages with a good page experience along with this update. It will help keep note of how the pages with a good experience are different from other pages on the site.
