Pinterest is upgrading its shopping capabilities with updates to its existing features and launching a new shopping tab. It is releasing new ways to shop from boards, pins and search results.
New Shopping Features
Shop From Pin Boards
A new ‘Shop’ tab is available for users on their own boards. Users can go on to their fashion boards and can browse products available on that board after clicking on the shop tab. This new feature works with home decor and fashion products. It will only display products that are in stock.

Shop From Search Results
A new Shop tab will be displayed in the Pinterest search results. It will help users to shop for products when searching for terms like summer outfits, home decor or kitchen models. Users will be able to filter search results when looking for something more specific along with a new feature to sort search results by price.
Shop From Pins
The Pinterest existing visual search feature is now updated with shopping capabilities. The visual search feature helps users to look for products by taking a picture or posting an image. Pinterest then displays relevant pins with that product in it. Now users will be able to see a new shop option when performing a visual search.
Shop On Pinterest From Anywhere
With the introduction of these upgrades, Pinterest is making the platform as a social network for shopping- a platform where users can buy products they see on the screen. Hence creating a call to action by allowing users to shop from any screen they look at. Whether it be their own boards, search results or shopping boards.
Not only it is useful for users, but it is also beneficial for retailers. Businesses of any size can benefit from these upgrades as most of the searches on Pinterest are unbranded. Pinterest data reveals that users search for generic terms rather than searching for a brand specifically.
Shopping Searches On Pinterest That Are Trending
Pinterest has come out with these new updates at a time when almost all the users are at home spending more time on their devices. Searches for support to small businesses are on the rise as noted by Pinterest with people searching for ‘help small businesses’ lately comparatively more than the last few weeks. Many searches include people looking out for ways to set up their new work from home office setups.
Pinterest Shopping Statistics
Pinterest has seen a significant increase in the user engagements with shopping on Pinterest by 44% from last year. More than 70% of users have purchased products displayed in pins by brands. Users are 3 times more likely to visit the retailer’s site after looking for it on Pinterest compared to any other social media platform.
