Japanese internet corporation company SoftBank has invested a total sum of $93-million investment in Petuum, a Pittsburgh based startup that simplifies the process for companies to use machine learning or deep learning applications at scale.

Petuum, situated in Pittsburgh, makes AI programming that can be utilized by an assortment of enterprises. For example, Petuum’s healthcare software system utilizes electronic medicinal records to give potential disease diagnosis and treatment recommendations.

 

Allowing Customers to use AI Applications on Hardware

Petuum also makes an operating system that allows customers to use AI applications on hardware, including data centers. Petuum will use the funds that it received from Softbank to expand its team and further develop its operating system for industries such as manufacturing and healthcare.
