Facebook is currently testing to split News Feed that could separate the user’s friends from Pages. With their addition of Explore Feed, News Feed seems to be their next stop. This separation would help the users in choosing posts from friends or the public pages.
More about News Feed
In the traditional news feed, the user gets to see the posts from friends, groups or pages. But, in this new development, the user will get posts from friends as well as Pages. The paid posts would be present in Friends Feed and Organic reach in Pages Feed.
Facebook declared that this feature is currently available in Sri Lanka, Bolivia, Slovakia, Serbia, Guatemala and Cambodia.
The Future of the Separation
The splitting of News Feed seems to disrupt the reach of Pages on the platform and has even seen a drop of user engagement by 60 to 80 percent as the user now has to go to a different page for organic reach.
What did Facebook say on this new development?
Facebook stated “With all of the possible stories in each person’s feed, we always work to connect people with the posts they find most meaningful. They also added, “People have told us they want an easier way to see posts from friends and family, so we are testing two separate feeds, one as a dedicated space with posts from friends and family and another as a dedicated space for posts from Pages.”
