With Facebook’s political news scandal during U.S. elections and it’s coming up with some identification tools to detect fake news, Facebook is always coming up with something new to reduce the posting of fake news from its platform.

About the new feature

Their new features is intended to provide the users “additional context on the articles they see in News Feed”. They have come up with the ‘I’ button that will give the users some additional information about the news they are reading.

Where will you find this feature?

This button will appear upper right-hand corner above an article’s title. When a user taps on this button, some additional information will be shown to the reader. This information is collected from different sources such as Wikipedia, trending articles or blogs about it.

Sara Su’s Statement

The product manager stated “People have told us that they want more information about what they’re reading. They want better tools to help them understand if an article is from a publisher they trust and evaluate if the story itself is credible.”
