With Facebook’s new ad targeting options, they are now shaking hands with big media firms and are helping out in selling their subscriptions to their publications without holding any stake in the revenue collection.

 

About the Subscription

This feature is to be introduced in the next few weeks. In this feature, the publishers will see different types of paywalls around their articles.

The first paywall would be “metered” which is currently in use, where after reading several articles the user is directed to the subscription page. The second one is “freemium”, where the publisher can set firewall around their articles.

 

The Exit of Apple

The feature will not be available in Apple phones as they are in a demand to gain a good amount of subscription fees generated by this, unlike Facebook who said that it is not an in-app purchase as it happens at the publisher’s site.
